New Mexico Society for Human Resource Management

ABOUT US

The Society for Human Resource Management of New Mexico (SHRM of NM) is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. We represent over 1,000 Human Resource Professionals in the state of New Mexico.

Our purpose is to promote the mission of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), to serve the needs of Human Resources professionals and advance the Human Resources profession. We aim to connect Human Resource professionals throughout New Mexico, to provide support to affiliate SHRM chapters in our state, and to act as a conduit in the communication network between National SHRM and local chapters. We are volunteer leaders dedicated to the Human Resources profession.

The State Council provides a structure for our members to consult together concerning the affairs, activities, needs and challenges of the profession and the Society in New Mexico. Among our many purposes, the State Council:

· Facilitates information sharing among NM chapters, council leaders and through the regional council and membership advisory council to the board of directors and back down.

· Provides professional development opportunities, including an annual state conference.

· Promotes, recognizes and celebrates HR professionals, outstanding HR practices and exemplary employers through annual HR Excellence Awards.

· Sets an example through sound ethical practices.

· Coordinates state and national legislative initiatives.

· Addressed workforce readiness issues to assist in educating the community on needs of employers.

· Promotes and supports the Certification of HR professionals state wide.

· Supports and encourages diversity initiatives.

· Offers resources for student chapters and members.

· Supports Human Resource research through donations to the SHRM Foundation.

· Communicates with SHRM members within the state who are not affiliated with any specific chapter (At-Large members).
